What is a Solopreneur?

What do you get when you combine the words solo + entrepreneur? A “solopreneur”!

This term is becoming more popular in recent years and considering that there are over 41 million solopreneurs in the U.S. it makes sense. A solopreneur is a person who starts and runs their own business with no employees. A solopreneur is still an entrepreneur but instead of having the goal of building a business that employs many people, solopreneurs start businesses so they can work independently and have the freedom to build their own schedules and work environments.

Solopreneurship Offers Flexibility

82% of the solopreneurs who work full-time on their endeavor say they feel happier working on their own. But not all solopreneurs work on their ventures full-time. In fact, most of them work part-time.

For those with disabilities, being a solopreneur could be a great option especially if creating your own work environment or working from home is important to you. According to the U.S. Small Business Administration, over 60% of businesses without paid employees are home-based.
